Dipentum [ Donnatal ]
Dipentum
marketed as Donnatal
Donnatal is an antispasmodic and barbiturate combination used to relieve
stomach and intestinal spasms and cramping.
Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to belladonna, any
barbiturate medicine, tartrazine (a yellow dye in some processed foods and
drugs), or any drug.
Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and
nonprescription medications you are taking, especially any seizure
medications, digoxin (Lanoxin), and vitamins.
Antacids may decrease the
effectiveness of this medication, so do not take antacids within 1 hour of
taking it.
Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had glaucoma; an enlarged
prostate; intestinal blockage; myasthenia gravis; hiatal hernia; severe
ulcerative colitis; kidney, heart, or liver disease; diseases of the urinary
tract; or high blood pressure
Common Side Effects:
Check with your doctor if any of the following side effects continue or
are bothersome:
constipation
decreased sweating
dizziness
drowsiness
dryness of mouth, nose, throat, or skin
Less frequent or rare:
Check with your doctor if any of the following side effects continue or are
bothersome:
bloated feeling
blurred vision
decreased flow of breast milk
difficult urination
difficulty in swallowing
headache
increased sensitivity of eyes to sunlight
loss of memory
nausea or vomiting
unusual tiredness or weakness
Always Notify Doctor:
Rare
eye pain
skin rash or hives
sore throat and fever
unusual bleeding or bruising
yellow eyes or skin
Symptoms of an overdose:
Blurred vision (continuing) or changes in near vision
clumsiness or unsteadiness
confusion
convulsions (seizures)
dizziness (continuing)
drowsiness (severe)
dryness of mouth, nose, or throat (severe)
fast heartbeat
fever
hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
shortness of breath or troubled breathing
slurred speech
unusual excitement, nervousness, restlessness, or irritability
unusual warmth, dryness, and flushing of skin
Other side effects not listed above may also occur in some patients. If you
notice any other effects, check with your doctor. This information is meant
